Stearns and Foster Mattress Has a Very Strong Chemical Odor.

I just purchased a new Stearns andh Foster mattress. It has a very strong odor, something of a very strong chemical type smell. Is this safe?

Hi Mark,

Since Jan. 2014, after being sold to Tempurpedic, every mattress made by S&F is upholstered with chemical based memory foam.

Of the 61 different chemicals used to make memory foam, several are toxic.

So, no! It’s not safe.

The off gassing of these toxic chemicals attack the respiratory systems of every living creature in your home…people and pets.


I recommend sending it back and exchanging it for a mattress that’s upholstered with pure, organic and hypoallergenic latex foam.


All of the, so called, name brands have been sold and are now using that same toxic chemical based memory foam.
