One of the condos we rented in Florida had the most amazingly comfortable mattresses we’ve ever slept on.
What was so amazing, was that they were perfectly plain, no cushioning, padding, quilting or anything, just plain Jane flat. When we first saw them, having arrived before the maid service had finished making up the beds, I thought, great, this isn't going to be comfortable.
A few nights later, we couldn’t believe how comfortable the bed was.
I had just been thinking myself how well and comfortably I had been sleeping.
The mattresses weren’t firm, weren’t soft, didn't feel special in any way.
They just promoted a very sound sleep.
I looked under, behind and on all sides of my mattress trying to find out the make. There was only one label on the back edge to be seen, which I thought was odd, which said, “100% Latex with a 100% cotton cover.
Can you tell me who made those mattesses and why they were so comfortable?
In this market of bells and whistles, can a mattress like this be found?

The bells and whistles are there because people so easily buy into them.
The factories make what sells.
We are a nation of consumers who are so willing to buy into BS....who are dazed by shiney things, things that make noise...and mattesses that feed our self-indugent sense of luxury.
We are constantly being suckered in and continually come back for more.
You discovered this as though you'd had an epiphany. But, mattresses like that do exist.
They aren't common or plentiful in stores because nobody wants to buy “Plain Jane” looking mattresses.
And until the buying public shares in your sudden grasp of reality, things will remain as they are. The factories respond to demand.
