Hi Pete,
I am absolutely livid over my mattress warranty claim being denied.
We bought a very expensive Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress at the end of last year.
In just a few months, we noticed body impressions forming on the mattress.
By the time Summer rolled around, the back pain we were having with our old mattress returned.
So, I called the store where I bought it to register a complaint.
They sent an inspector who measured the body impressions.
He told us right then and there that the body impressions were deep enough to get a new mattress.
But then they said that the perspiration stains on the mattress voided the warranty.
No one told me anything about any of this at the time we bought the mattress.
The store won't exchange this mattress and I can't afford a new one.
I'm still making payments on this one.
And, we can no longer sleep on this one without feeling the pain.
We need your help. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ralph
Hi Ralph,
Memory foam is made to react to your body heat.
It softens as it warms, allowing your body to sink.
At first, it’s comfortable. But as you’ve noticed, that doesn’t last long.
Memory foam isn’t very resistant, allowing your body to sink too far within a short time, which throws off your spinal alignment causing pain.
The diabolical part of all this is that when you get out of bed, the memory foam returns, close enough to its original shape, making the sustained impression so shallow as to make prevailing in a warranty claim highly unlikely.
The fact that it off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it’s made, just adds insult to injury.
A stain on a mattress has always voided the warranty.
A waterproof mattress protector is a 'must have' for every mattress in your home.
Here's a link to the mattress protector we use at home:
Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector

The good news is that your mattress has a dual life.
There’s an easy, long term fix that will let you get many years of comfortable sleep from that mattress.
The worthless memory foam is only on the top.
Flip your mattress over the firm, polyurethane side.
The flip side is likely to be too firm for comfort, so add a high quality 3” Soft Latex Topper.
(Be careful. Latex from China is processed with clay as a filler.
The clay makes it cheap and short lived. It’s sold as All Natural.)
We recommend buying your topper from Latex for Less.
Latex for Less has the lowest prices on the highest quality latex…
Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex that lasts for many years.
We also recommend getting the organic cotton cover to go with it.
Here’s the link you’ll need to place your order:
