Why Do My Hands and Feet Go Numb on a Memory Foam Mattress?

Marybeth writes:

Hi Pete,

I bought a memory foam mattress about 3 months ago.
Lately, I’ve been experiencing numbness in my hands and feet when I sleep.
Why is that happening and what can I do about it?
I’m past my trial period, so I can’t return it.
Thanks, Marybeth

Hi Marybeth,
Memory foam is a temperature sensitive material that softens as it warms from the body heat you give off. This allows you to sink into it. It’s the heavier parts of your body that will sink first and furthest, which restricts blood flow to your extremities.

What to do about it?
The most economical way to address this is also a long term solution.
Adding a Latex Mattress Topper will create a barrier between you and the memory foam, which will prevent the memory foam from reacting to your heat.
Latex is NOT temperature sensitive…problem solved.
Latex for Less has the lowest prices on the highest quality latex toppers available anywhere. They come in your choice of comfort and thickness.
A 2” topper is all you need to do the job.

If you prefer the feel of memory foam, the Magniflex MemoForm foam mattress toppers will provide that feel and are also NOT temperature sensitive….shown here:
