Back Pain, Sinking into a Memory Foam Mattress.

Maria writes:

Hi Pete,

We bought a memory foam mattress, a few months ago.
At first, it felt good. Now, In just a few short months, I’m now sinking into it.
I blame this sinking into it, on the back pain I’m having.
I’ve had this mattress just long enough that I can’t exchange it.
I’m considering a firm topper to fix this. Do you agree? Your recommendation?
Thanks, Maria

Hi Maria,
You’re correct about what’s causing your problem, and close to having figured out on how to fix it.
A body sleeps better with firm support and a softer sleeping surface.
Adding a firm topper will produce just the opposite to what’s ideal.

The memory foam on top of your mattress is supported by high density polyurethane foam, which is quite firm.
The first thing to do is to flip your mattress over.
The firm underside will relieve your back pain.
However, you are likely to need a softer topper to relieve pressure point pain.

The best toppers are made of pure, organic and hypoallergenic latex foam.
Latex for Less has the lowest prices for these highest quality toppers.
If you’re on the heavy side, go with the 2” Soft.
If you’re light to average in size, you’ll find the 3” Soft to be better.
