Hi Pete,
My mother has a bed that she and my father purchased in 1967.
The label says Sealy Posturpedic Latex Foam.
I wondered if you knew the actual makeup of the mattress (100% natural latex? Dunlop Process I presume? ILD rating)?
Can point me in the right direction?
BTW, it still feels as good as new.
Thank you, David
Hi Dan,
That’s the amazing thing about an all latex mattress.
It’s extraordinary resistant…lasting for many, many years.
At that time, it would have likely been pure Dunlop Latex.
No way to know the ILD rating, but they were usually on the firmer side.
Today, Latex for Less is the best buy in high quality Pure, Organic Latex,
You have 2 choices of thickness and 3 choices of comfort.
Thickness doesn’t matter, other than providing the convenience of height for getting in and out of bed. Since you’re enjoying the feel of your mom’s, I suggest the medium feel.

If you need a new boxspring/foundation, I recommend the Magniflex KD Foundation, which comes in your choice of height and color.
They’re very strong and assemble easily with no tools needed.
They are upholstered foundations, a bit dressy, but reasonably priced.

Also recommended is a waterproof mattress protector, which prevents perspiration from seeping into the upholstery materials.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry and odor free will enhance longevity.
The Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector is my recommendation…the one we use at home.
It sleeps cool and works well.
