I've been having a lot of lower back pains. On the advice of the salesman, I got a Tempur-Pedic mattress hoping it will cure the problem. However, that has not happened.

Memory Foam, the upholstery material used by Tempur-Pedic, is where you went wrong. Salespeople push it, as if it were the best thing since sliced bread…the be all to end all…solving all your problems.
Memory foam is, in fact, the worst upholstery material ever invented.
It’s a temperature sensitive material that softens after reacting to your body’s heat…allowing the heavier parts of your body to sink further than your extremities.
The result? Your body is no longer in its proper alignment.
Back pain increases. Extremities go numb.
Avoiding any mattress upholstered with memory foam is key.
But there’s more:
While there are better foams from which to choose, no all foam mattress will provide the pushback support a damaged back requires.
An individually pocketed coil system will maintain the natural alignment of your body and spine. THIS, more than anything else, is the key to relieving chronic back pain.

You never want to put a new mattress on an old foundation.
Doing so will void the warranty of any mattress.
If you need a new boxspring/foundation, I recommend the Magniflex KD Foundation, which comes in your choice of height and color.
They’re very strong and assemble easily with no tools needed.
They are upholstered foundations, a bit dressy, but reasonably priced.

Also recommended is a waterproof mattress protector, which prevents perspiration from seeping into the upholstery materials.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry and odor free will enhance longevity.
