Which Mattress if Money Were NOT a Concern?

 Connie writes:

Hi Pete,

If I were not concerned about money, why wouldn’t I buy a top of the line mattress rather than a more reasonably priced one?

I do not have any medical issues and am not obese.

Would it last longer?

Is there that much difference in comfort?

Thanks, Connie

Hi Connie,

High end mattresses are more comfortable, initially, with lots of fluff that feels heavenly when you try them.

Unfortunately, that fluff loses its comfort much too quickly.

When buying a mattress, more is not necessarily better.

You don’t want a cheap mattress, either.

For long lasting support and comfort, you do have to spend something, but not as much as what “Top of the Line” will cost you.

We all want the best bang for the buck, regardless of what we’re buying. This is particularly important for pressure sensitive product, like a mattress.

In terms of support, nothing surpasses the benefits of an individually pocketed coil system, which maintains the natural alignment of the body and spine.

Most of today’s innerspring mattresses have this type of coil system.

Unfortunately, most are upholstered with memory foam, which does not last for very long. Subsequently, mattresses upholstered with memory foam are a bad choice…a terrible value for the money.

Not to mention that memory foam mattresses, typically, sleep hot and off gas the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made.

Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex is and has been the most comfortable and longest lasting upholstery material for the last 100+ years.

Combine latex comfort with pocketed coil support, and you have everything you need and want…and for many years to come.

THIS is your best value, by far.

I have a couple of excellent options for you.

If you need a new boxspring/foundation, I recommend the Magniflex KD Foundation, which comes in your choice of height and color.

They’re very strong and assemble easily with no tools needed.

Also recommended is a waterproof mattress protector, which prevents perspiration from seeping into the upholstery materials.

Keeping your mattress clean and dry will enhance longevity.

The Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector is my recommendation…the one we use at home.

It sleeps cool and works well.
