Is a Latex Mattress Topper Really Necessary?

 Hi Pete,

My wife has been on the computer doing her due diligence researching about a new mattress that we desperately need.
She’s been reading your blog posts and is convinced that we need a mattress and a latex topper.
The economy being what it is, I’m not really interested in spending more money than I need to. So I’d like to hear from you, why does she believe that the topper is as important as the mattress.
My wife is on the small side. I’m a bit heavy.
Thanks, Larry

Hi Larry,
The economy, being what it is, is exactly why you should use a latex topper.
Latex is the most resilient upholstery material available.
It will absorb much to all of your body weight, depending on how much you weigh.
The result is a mattress that will last far longer than it was designed to.
In several years, all you’ll have to replace is the topper, which costs far less than a new mattress.
From an economic standpoint, it’s the best way to spend your money.
There are few things that you can buy, these days, that actually pay for themselves. A latex topper and a waterproof mattress protector are two such items.

For those who are watching how they spend their money, my recommendations are as follows.
