You recommended the Luxury Firm Simmons Beautyrest model...without a pillowtop, and adding a latex topper. As far as I can tell, this is not available. Is there a newer model that is similar to this one? I appreciate any recs.

Hi Mary,
That’s an older post that you were reading.
A latex topper on a Beautyrest mattress worked back then because the memory foam they were using at the time was a higher grade…less temperature sensitive and cured so that it didn’t off gas.
Now, it’s not cured. You can overcome the temperature sensitivity with a topper, but you’ll be exposed to the chemical off gassing, which is a health hazard.
The big plus about a Simmons Beautyrest is the individually pocketed coils.
13 years ago, that coil system wasn’t as common as it is today.
Today, you can get that same coil system in mattresses that don’t need a latex topper.

My wife and I have been sleeping on the Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress for more than 9 years.
