Are the Natura of Canada Greenspring Mattresses Organic?

Hi Pete,

Are the Natura of Canada Greenspring, pocketed coil/latex hybrid mattresses, that you refer to in your blog, Organic?
Here's our info: My husband is 5’ 11’’/200 lbs and I am 5’ 1”/125 lbs.
He’s a stomach/side sleeper, and I’m a side/back sleeper.
We also deal with back issues and joint pain.
He moves quite a bit during the night so a motion isolation feature would be nice.
Thanks, Cathy
Hi Cathy,
The Natura of Canada Greenspring Mattresses are made of natural materials.
Their ultra plush model is what my wife and I have been sleeping on for the last 9 years…still in excellent condition, with each of us weighing more than 200 lbs.
The individually pocketed coils relieve back pain and provide motion isolation.
It’s no less than a great mattress.
Here’s a link to that line, showing 4 choices of comfort.

Also great quality, are the Williams Co. Mattresses, made in Colorado.
These mattresses are similarly made, and are Certified Organic.
There are 3 models, each available in firm or plush.
Since the choice of comfort is determined by the gauge of steel used for the coils, I recommend the firm due to your husband’s size.

Both of these come with White Glove Delivery.
Delivery includes set up in your bedroom and removal of all packaging materials.

Hi Pete,
Thank so much for the info and the quick response!
What is the warranty for the Natura Greenspring Mattresses?
Also, is a platform bed a good option in place of the foundation for these mattresses? We want to avoid the dreaded hump up the middle that our current King size has.
Thanks, Cathy
Hi Cathy,
Both of those brands come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
The question of the platform bed being adequate depends upon how it’s made.
I hate to be the one to disillusion you, but the platform bed does next to nothing to avoid the hump up the middle.
The hump of the middle is the nature of the beast, so to speak.
That’s the part of a king-size mattress that, basically, remains like new….
Having never been slept on.
The other thing that promotes the hump, is the rigidity of where the two boxsprings meet. A slated platform provides that same rigidity up the center of the bed.
The best way to minimize the hump is by rotating your mattress 1/4 turn.
A standard king isn’t square, but close enough to get away with it.
The mattress hangs over the side a little, but not enough to worry about.
Rotating a mattress, for you, is more critical because of the weight difference between you and your husband.
Rotate the mattress 1/4 turn every month for the first year, and then once every 3 months thereafter, for best results to maintain longer-term comfort life…in addition to minimizing that hump.
Thanks, Pete
Never:
Use an old box spring/foundation with any new mattress.
Doing so voids the warranty of the mattress.
Always:
Use a waterproof mattress protector.
Your new mattress will last longer if kept clean and dry.
