Here is one consumer's idea of a "Simple Solution" to dealing with the
Strong Chemical Odor from Mattresses

Hi, there is a simple solution. Rent an Ozone generator. Place it inside the bedroom. Close off the bedroom so nothing gets in the rest of the house. Open a window just enough to get the cord outside and close it. Push the on the button but don’t plug it in. If u have central air, turn it on. Put a fan in the bedroom and turn it on. Leave and seal the door so no air escapes.Remove all living things from the house; fish, pets, and family. Plug in the generator. Visit someone or go to the mall. Make sure you don’t come back for 6-8 hrs. Unplug the generator. Hood your breath and open the window all the way. Throw the plug back in the room. Enter the front door to the house. Open all the other windows to air out.The generator produces ozone O3 and turns O2 oxygen into O3. Without oxygen living things cannot breathe and die. Textile manufacturers use to put formaldehyde in their fabrics and carpeting, clothes, and linens, In carpets, it is used for sizing. We sent our carpets to get cleaned as it washed out with water. My husband has asthma, so we bought one. It also kills mold and mildew. Over the years we had to use it when we got walk-to-wall, when we left the top down in a rain storm, pillows, in the basement,When it became publicized, the manufacturers started using something else. Don’t know what, but it was in 2 pillows that had a chemical smell so we wrapped them in a trash bag outside and used the gen for 3 hrs. It worked. The O3 gen is what firemen use to get rid of the smoke smell in a house.

Hi Kris,
You call that a SIMPLE solution?!
Does anyone really want to have to go through all of that when it isn't necessary?!
How about this as an even simpler solution: "Don't buy mattresses with chemicals that off-gas."Like these:
Or these:
Or these:
Or these:
