New Stearns and Foster mattress is making my hands and feet go numb.

Hi Pete,

I just went to a local store and got a new Stearns and Foster mattress that is now only 10 days old.
It is making my hands and feet go numb.
It is a medium firm coil in coil construction with a foam top.
In the show room, the mattress seemed soft enough, but in my house it's just too hard.
It's nothing like the old S&F mattress it replaced.
What happened? Recommendations?
Thanks, Tom
Hi Tom,
S&F, along with Sealy, is owned by Tempurepedic...has been since 2013.
S&F went from being considered, 'The Cadillac of the Industry' to nothing more than 'expensive junk', overnight.
It's the memory foam in your mattress that's causing your extremities to go numb.
Memory foam, unlike the foam used in your old S&F, is temperature sensitive.
It absorbs your body heat and softens as it warms.
This allows the heavier parts of your body to sink through it, but not your arms and legs.
This lack of proper body alignment is what's pinching nerves that are resulting in numbness.
We had been a S&F dealer for many years, prior to Tempurpedic acquiring them.
We stopped selling them, at that point, and went shopping at the industry trade shows looking for high quality alternatives.
The best we found was The Natura of Canada Greenspring Mattresses.
The specifications exceed those of the older S&F, and far surpass the specs of the newer S&F models.
Their ultra plush model is the most comfortable, without being too soft.
My wife and I have been sleeping on that mattress for the past 9 years.
Despite each of us weighing more than 200 lbs., our mattress has remained in like new condition.
So, if you’re looking for a high quality recommendation,
The Nature of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress is the best you can get.
Here’s a link to that mattress, showing specifications and prices.
Thanks, Pete
A waterproof mattress protector will extend the life of any mattress, keeping it clean and dry.
