Hands and feet numbness sleeping on a Tempurpedic mattress.

Josie writes:

Hello Pete,

I have been experiencing hands and feet numbness for past 2 years.
I have been sleeping on a Tempurpedic mattress, thinking it would be wonderful for any back issues.
I am 73 and thought maybe it was just “my age” and circulation issues.
Then my daughter took a long nap on my bed and she experienced hands and feet numbness, too.
So, I started looking into this.
What do you say?
Thanks, Josie
Hi Josie,
The problem is the memory foam on top of your mattress.
Memory Foam is Temperature sensitive, allowing your body to sink as it warms...throwing off the natural alignment of your body and spine.
Numbness of the extremities, (arms, hands, legs and feet), is only one of the negative side effects that is common from sleeping on a memory foam mattress.
Flip it over and put the memory foam on the down side, where it can no longer do you any more harm.
The flip side of the mattress is not temperature sensitive.
It is firm, high density polyurethane foam...and likely to be too firm for comfort.
Simply add a mattress topper to the flip side to get the comfort you want.
There are many, high quality mattress toppers to choose from...shown here:

Thanks, Pete

Using an old box spring to support any new mattress will cause premature wear and void the manufacturer’s warranty.
A waterproof mattress protector will extend the life of a mattress by keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry.
