Are Memory Foam Mattresses as Good as they Claim?
It's not a question of being good or bad...it's a matter bad or worse!
By now, all of us have seen the commercials about the water problem at Camp Lejeune.
They specifically point out that chemical Benzene as the main source of their poisoned water problem.
Benzene is one of the several toxic/carcinogenic chemicals used to make the memory foam, which is used by most mattress manufacturers.
The memory foam they're using off gasses those toxic chemicals, creating a health hazard for every breathing living being in the homes where those mattresses are used.
As if that weren't bad enough, memory foam is specifically designed to wear quickly.
Memory foam is a temperature sensitive material that softens as it warms from your body's heat.
Memory foam is not very resilient to start, so within months of purchase, you're sinking so far into it, that it throws off the natural alignment of the spine...making any back issue you had, worse.
Also, it reflects your body heat back to you....causing you to sleep hot.
The diabolical part of all this is that the memory foam returns when you get out of bed.
It returns enough that you are highly unlikely to meet the criteria to prevail in a warranty claim.
THIS is what has created a boon for the mattress industry...at wholesale and retail...and a nightmare for the consumer.
There is such a thing as plant based memory foam, which is not widely used.
And while this type of memory foam is not toxic, the rest of the problems still exist.
People who are young and fit seem to tolerate memory foam better than the rest of us.
But, just because they find it comfortable, doesn't make it good.
Memory foam does have a deleterious affect on the body when used long term.
Consumer Reports often recommends Memory Foam laden Mattresses.
The reason for this is the old, out dated machines they're using to test mattresses...none, of which, take into consideration the body heat that causes memory foam to change so dramatically.
The key to a successful, long term purchase is in finding mattresses that have NO Memory Foam in them.
Unfortunately, they aren't easyt to find.
Fortunately, The Mattress Expert is a retailer that cares more about quality than profits.
There is no memory foam in any of the mattresses we have available.
