There are any number of products that will soften the surface of a mattress that's too firm.
The only one to really avoid, is memory foam...which off gasses the toxic chemicals form which it's made.
Memory foam is both, a health hazard and it wears poorly.
The best, pure organic latex is the most expensive and the longest lasting.
It's, actually cheaper to use because it lasts for so many years.
