Hi Pete,
I see your post about the discontinued Sealy Posturepedic Bellezza Mattress.
I do not like foam in any form in a mattress.
Is there any mattress that you can recommend?
What is your take on McCroskey mattresses?
Regards, Mary
Hi Mary,
There are 3 types of foams used in making mattresses.
The worst of them is memory foam and should be totally avoided.
Polyurethane foam was used from the early 1970s to today, and was the primary foam used until memory foam took over.
Pure Latex foam is and has been the best of the foams since the 1920s.
But today, you need to avoid latex that’s processed in China.
The fillers they add lower the cost and cheapen the quality.
McCroskey is west coast company that I rarely hear anyone talk about.
Most west coast companies import the components from China.
Personally, I don’t trust anything made in China.
You would have to be sure of the origins of their components.
Getting a mattress that was commonly made from the 1920s until the early 1970s that was upholstered with cotton batting is still available today.
They are extremely rare and incredibly expensive.
How is it, a half century after poly foam was introduced, that you’ve come to the decision that you want a mattress with no foam of any type?
Thanks, Pete
