Each person being considerably different in weight has always created a challenge when it comes to mattresses.
Normally, you would get a mattress that is strong enough for the heavier person.
Having it wear well requires frequent rotation.
A king, while not square, is close enough to being square as to allow you to rotate your mattress 1/4 turn.
My wife and I rotate ours 1/4 turn. Each of us is on the heavy side.
Recently, I had a customer with your same circumstances.
They solved their problem with 2 Twin-XL size mattresses.
Now, when the husband’s mattress wears out, they just replace his half, instead of buying a new king size every time.
The only other must have product, is a waterproof mattress protector.
It’s perspiration that is the thing to protect against.
Moisture seeping into the mattress help break down the resiliency of the upholstery materials.
Keeping everything clean and dry promotes greater longevity.

Hello Pete,My husband is between 250-300 lbs and I am roughly 140 lbs.
That is one of the issues that we have with our current mattress.
We had to rotate it by half a turn because of some type of lumbar support thing.
One side still ended up getting worn out and there are two deep indentations in the mattress where he lies.
I thought about getting one of the Wolf two sided mattresses but supposedly most mattresses do not need to be flipped because of the way they are constructed. Is that correct?

Most mattresses are made one sided.
Very few are available two sided so that they can be flipped.
Regardless of which mattress you buy, you’ll be replacing it frequently…thanks to Papa Bear’s size.
