We've been blogging and selling mattresses online since 2003.
Posts our oldest blog, (TypePad), date back to 2007.
Before Covid, each manufacturer in this industry would change the details in the line...the model names and specifications of their mattresses every couple of years.
But even then, we could make those changes on our end and retain the links.
After Covid, all kinds of things changed. Supply lines were disrupted, along with delivery services.
For instance, Talalay latex is nearly impossible to get. When my suppliers can get it, it's been in dribs and drabs.
It became such a problem, EverEden switched to memory foam and no longer makes anything with latex.
Pure Bliss hasn't made latex toppers for months, and don't anticipate resuming production for a while yet.
Simmons discontinued their national delivery service, which is why that link is broken.
We don't sell that brand anymore.
But, it's just as well.
As you noticed in those older blog posts, a recommendation for a Simmons Beautyrest mattress was always accompanied by a recommendation for a latex topper.
A Beautyrest mattress, alone, doesn't hold up very well...thanks to the memory foam upholstery.
The latex topper prevented the premature wear that normally goes along with a Simmons Beautyrest.
We recommended a firmer Beautyrest, and not a plush model, because the gauge of their non-tempered steel coils is much thinner in the plush models.
If you were to look online at reviews for Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, you'll see they are horrible, for the most part. The reason is the way they are sold...mostly plush and plush pillowtops.
The softer models are easier to sell, in stores.
They feel better, initially, and salespeople are notorious for taking the path of least resistance.
To finally getting around to answering your question, we often recommend trying a latex topper first,
to make what you have more comfortable. Quite often a new mattress isn't really needed.

The steel is tempered and there's no memory foam.
They feel better longer and last for many years.
Which one I'd recommend for you would depend on the sizes of the people using the mattress.
But, we can get into that once you've determined that you actually do need a new mattress.
