I want to purchase 3 new queen mattresses.

Hi Pete,

I want to purchase 3 new queen mattresses for our home.
I have been to Macy's, Mattress Firm, Raymour and Flanagan, Mattress Warehouse.
My two adult sons first liked 2 different Beautyrest mattresses.
But, then I read online some mediocre reviews of those and decided against it.
Then they went to Hershey PA and stayed at a Sheraton and liked their beds.
So, I checked out the Sheraton Store on line and was in the process of checking out some reviews of those mattresses, when I found your site.
I see some great reviews online of your company and, apparently, you have stores.
I guess I just need to know where I can go to check out the mattresses you sell.
Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen,
We specialize in quality...no memory foam.
However, we are an old online retailer.
If you can buy without trying, I can help you.
Still interested?
Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,
The only reason I didn't pursue those Beautryrest mattresses was the mixed reviews I found online.
Could be, I just stumbled onto a few bad ones as people with good experiences usually don't submit reviews.
But, I just was not sure those mattresses would last them.
Yes. I'm still interested,
Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen,
The thing that makes a Beautyrest so comfortable is the individually pocketed coil system.
That kind of coil system provides excellent support that contours to the shape of the body, which maintains the natural alignment of the spine.
At retail, all Beautyrest mattresses are upholstered with memory foam.
In hotels, it’s polyurethane foam instead of memory foam.

I have a couple of questions.
What sizes are your boys...heights and weights?
Do you need new foundations, as well, or just the mattresses?
Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,
Both boys are big guys. One is almost 6' and 300 and the other is 5'8" and about 200.
When we looked at the Beautyrest mattresses, one of them liked the BRS 900-TSS PT Plush and the other one liked the BRS 900C TSS Plush.
I have no idea if these are the best for them or if there are better ones that we just did not see.
Only give you those numbers/models so you know what we looked at and what they are interested in based on what they saw.

Both rooms have metal frames that can expand to handle queen beds. They do not have queen box springs.
So I would either have to get box springs as well, or take the route of buying a platform bed that might allow storage underneath. Need to clarify that with them both.
Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen,
What are you hoping for in terms of longevity?
Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,
I'm not sure how to answer that question as longevity expectations on everything have been "reduced".
The new $1000.00 GE freezer, I just bought, came with a 1 year warranty.
My mother had a freezer that she bought in 1956 that is still running and has never needed repair.
My washer and dryer were purchased in 2006.
I guess you could say we tend to buy better quality. We take care of what we buy and hold on to it as long as we can.
I don't know what kind of longevity mattresses should have.
We, typically, do not change out our mattresses frequently.
The ones my boys are now using are 15+ years old. Does that help?
Thanks, Karen

Good Morning Karen,
The reason I ask is because of what you have been considering.
A plush or plush pillow top Beautyrest, purchased at a retail store, won’t last either of your sons more than a few months.
Between the thin, non tempered steel coils and the memory foam upholstery, those mattresses would have been a monumental waste of money.
Given that, I suppose I was asking how much longer will you be responsible for purchasing mattresses for them.

Those Beautyrests have an initial comfort level that makes them easy to sell.
The reviews online for Simmons Beautyrest mattresses are nothing short of horrible...and those negative reviews are for plush and plush pillow top models under average body weight.
Your 300 pounder will destroy that mattress in about a month, or so.

Mattresses, in general, have dramatically reduced in quality over the past decade...especially among the name brands. Those names you could once trust for quality have all been sold to investors.
Their new owners care only about profits... and not about quality.
The memory foam used in all of them is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing...which becomes insanely frequent under a 300 lb. person.

The diabolical thing about memory foam is that it returns when you get out of bed.
It returns, close enough to its original shape, as to make it nearly impossible to prevail in a warranty claim.

We have had many customers his size and heavier, over the years.
What it will take to provide long lasting support and comfort is rather pricey.
It’s a 2 part purchase....a mattress strong enough to last and a soft latex topper for comfort...which will need replacing every few years or so.
But the latex topper prevents the mattress from needing replacing for a very long time.
Your 200 pounder can be accommodated for considerably less money.

My recommendations for your largest son are:

&

The other two Queen size mattresses are the Wolf Pocketed Coil/Latex Hybrid Adara, with the Basic Black Platform Beds to support it and provide storage space.

The first one takes about 2 months to ship...about 3 months before it arrives.
The other arrive much more quickly.

Shipping is free and there’s no sales tax.
The first comes with white glove delivery.
The others and the latex topper arrive via ups.

Thanks, Pete

VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
We recommend our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
