Is there a good way to clean and remove a stain from a mattress?

Hi Pete,

My niece, who spent the night recently, had an accident on our guest bedroom mattress.
Is there a good way to clean and remove a stain?
I’ve read things about using vinegar.
Thanks, Tammy

Hi Tammy,
It’s better to use a dry upholstery cleaner.
Adding fluids to the mattress will breakdown the upholstery materials.
If you must resort to using vinegar, be sure to dry it thoroughly with a hair dryer on high heat.

It would have been better to have had a waterproof mattress protector.
Every mattress should have one.
Not only does it protect a mattress from accidents and prevent you from having to deal with the aftermath, it also protects the mattress from the most common source of moisture...perspiration.
Any form of moisture that seeps into the mattress will cause a mattress to wear prematurely. Conversely, keeping your mattress clean and dry will extend its life...maximizing the value of the money you spent on it.

Thanks, Pete

VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
