A Serta Perfect Sleeper Mattress from Sam's Club.

Hi Pete,
I purchased a Serta perfect sleeper Glenmoor 2.0 mattress from Sam's Club.
The mattress arrived with a dip on one side, a hump in the middle, and a dip on the opposite side.
After trying to sleep on it, thinking it would adjust, I woke up with sooo much pain after two weeks.
I went back to Sam’s and got my money back.
I looked on the blog at Sam’s Club and all their mattresses have the same complaint.
Mattresses that dip immediately or shortly after purchase like a 20-year-old Mattress!
I refuse to buy another Serta and actually purchased a Simmons Beautyrest from them.
It's a Cal. King size pillow top plush, which has better reviews.
Something is wrong here when a brand new mattress arrives with a dip in it.
I felt like I was sleeping on a downward driveway!
I contacted the delivery people and let them know that there is a major problem going on here.
I’m looking at how to get in to get in touch with Serta.
This mattress is almost $900 by itself. The Beautyrest was $1100 with a box spring.
How would a mattress arrive with a built in hump and dip? And, who would service it?
Thanks, Marcia

Hi Marcia,
Your email highlights one of the worst scams in this industry, "The Comfort Guarantee".
Many people won't buy a mattress unless that guarantee comes with it.
However, most manufacturers do not participate in this scam.
This problem isn't unique to Sam's Club.
When you deal with a retailer that offers a comfort guarantee, you can easily end up with a used mattress.

That's right! You bought a used mattress, not a new one.
You bought a mattress that other people had slept on and returned.
As illegal as that is, (selling a used mattress as new), it happens all the time.
There is no one policing this industry.

You can complain to Serta, but it won't help. They didn't do it. That mattress was new when they sold it to Sam's Club.
You can complain to Sam's Club, but they don't care. If they did, they wouldn't have sold a used mattress as new.
(You can obtain Serta's contact information online, via a google search).

I wish you luck with the Simmons Beautyrest you bought.
Even as new, they have horrible reviews, which you can look up online.

We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry will extend the life of the mattress.

Thanks, Pete
