Hi Pete,
My husband and I bought ourselves a Simmons Beautyrest mattress for Christmas.
We had been needing a new mattress for some years, and were so excited to get a new one.
Now that it is several months old, we are extremely displeased with this mattress.
We both wake up in pain. My husband is having back pain. My back and hips hurt.
We are not lightweight people. both close to 250 lbs.
The salesman said that our sizes would not be an issue, that the mattress would last for years.
I called the store to complain and they sent out an inspector, who measured the body impressions.
Of course, the impressions were not deep enough to get this exchanged.
When I explained that the it sinks in very far when we're in the mattress, I was told that didn't matter.
Long story short, we're stuck with this bad mattress.
Well, there was no way we were going to buy another mattress from that store.
I feel like we got snookered. The product is bad and the salesman lied.
So, I went online to do a little research, which is where I found your blog and website.
The information you provide is extensive. There was a lot to read.
My husband was thoroughly impressed with your knowledge.
We have decided to get one of the mattresses you and your wife have.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring mattresses seem to be the right choice.
My question is, do we go with the Ultra Plush, like you have, or a firmer model with a latex topper?
I like the idea of only having to replace the topper as the years go by, something you've recommended to others.
I await your thoughts.
Thanks, Camilla
Hi Camilla,
A mattress and the upholstery material are, all, pressure sensitive.
The memory foam in your mattress is also, temperature sensitive.
This is only one of the reasons why your mattress didn't hold up. The raw steel, non-tempered coils, is another reason.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring has a much stronger coil unit, made of double tempered steel and a higher coil count.
What's more, the upholstery is Natural Talalay Latex...and contain NO Memory Foam.
Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years.
I apologize for repeating everything you've already read, but many read these posts.
Your thoughts on what to buy are ideal for heavier people.
I suggest going with the Plush model, instead of the Ultra Plush...and adding a Latex Topper.
The Pure Bliss 2" or 3" Plush Natural Talalay latex Topper is the one to get...2" or 3" depending on how soft you like it.
The 3" turns out to be the better choice for female side sleepers, as it is more comfortable at the hip.
Here are links to both products.
The Natura GreenSpring series combines the natural elements commonly found in Natura, such as wool and latex, but it has a specially designed pocketed coil system to provide your body with extra support.

The mattress comes with white glove delivery, which includes removal of your old mattress.
The latex topper arrives via UPS.
Delivery, for both, is free and there's no sales tax.
We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery materials clean and dry will extend the life of the mattress.
