Wolf Two Sided Brolynn Mattress. Plush or Firm?

I'm looking to purchase a firm mattress, but am a little confused with terminology.

We have a four poster canopy bed.

We can remove the box spring and install flat surface, then install mattress on top.

(slats with 3/4 plywood)

Is that ok, or is it recommended to use Ever Eden Easy Fit Foundation?

We want to continue to use our bed frame.
