Serta Mattress Has Lost Its Shape and Has Become Painful.

Hi Pete,
I bought a Serta mattress, per the advice of Consumer Reports. I am most unhappy with it.
After only a short while, it has begun to lose its shape.
We stayed in a hotel that had a Simmons Beautyrest mattress, and I slept well and without pain.

Please help me make sense of this so that I make a better choice. 
This Serta mattress has become painful for me.
My husband and I are of average height and just a little overweight.

Hi Joan,
Consumer Reports has been all wrong with their recommendations.
The upholstery material, in your Serta mattress, is memory foam.
Memory foam is a temperature sensitive product that softens as it warms from your body heat.
It's not terribly resilient to begin with, and loses the little resiliency it has very quickly.
Consumer Reports tests mattresses without simulating the heat your body gives off. 
Subsequently, their conclusions are all wrong.

The Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, sold in retail stores, are also upholstered with memory foam.
The Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, used in hotels, has no memory foam.
Hotels have insisted on this, due to how often mattresses need replacing with memory foam.
