A Talalay Latex Topper for a Sealy SpringFree Beachside Latex Mattress.

Hello Pete,
I was hoping to get some advice on replacing our mattress.
We currently have, based on your previous, a Sealy SpringFree Beachside latex mattress.
(I'm aware Sealy doesn't make these anymore)

It was fantastic for my wife and I for about 9 years.
It then developed body impressions on each side.
From other comments this seems to be the soft poly foam on the top that has compressed.
We flipped it over, also based on a comment found on your blog.
But, we haven't found that to be terribly comfortable.

We did consider your advice of buying a plush Talalay latex topper for the firm-side of our existing mattress
But given that those appear to be 1/4 to 1/3rd the cost of a brand new mattress, I wasn't sure if that was the best long term solution.

I'm mid-40s, my wife is late 30s- we're both of generally average height and weight.
(if it matters- we were both heavier the first few years on the current mattress but have lost and kept that off the last few years)

No significant health problems for either of us, and we both tend to be side sleepers.

Really what I think we'd love, if it exists, is something that feels just like our Sealy did when new.
But, I would actually like it to last the 20 years we had hoped it would instead of half that time.

Thanks for any advice!
Regards, Ted

Hi Ted,
I'm happy to see that you've been reading. It saves me a lot of typing.
The problem is in replicating the feel of the Beachside.
THAT is best achieved by adding a 2" Plush Latex topper to the flip side of your mattress.
As you noted, it's the 2" of poly foam on top of the latex core, is what compressed. The latex topper won't do that.

You can, easily, wind up with that mattress lasting for the 20 years you had hoped for.

If I were to recommend a mattress, based on your size and what I know you like, it would be a Simmons Beautyrest mattress with a the same latex topper.
It only makes sense to order the latex topper to use with your mattress.
The latex core in your mattress is still good. There's, simply, no need to spend more than is necessary...for a similar result.
Here is a link to the Pure Bliss Natural Talalay Latex Toppers...the 2" Plush is all you need. Go with the 3", only if you want it softer than it used to be.
