Months Spent Researching and Shopping for a New Mattress.

Hello Pete,
I am thrilled to have finally found your website after spending months researching and shopping for a new mattress.

We have a 15 year old S&F cushion firm mattress that lost it's support several years ago.
It's to the point that we both are feeling aches and pains from the lack of support.
I've tried to find a new one but have struggled with getting details about how a mattress is made and lies from salespeople.
And, Consumer Reports 2019 mattress issue generated more questions than solutions.

I see you recommend Simmons BLACK and Natura Greenspring mattresses.
We are both side sleepers, sometimes back.  My husband only is a stomach sleeper at times.
He is 6', 195.  I am 5'8", 145.
We both came to the same conclusion as you.
I can soften a firm mattress, so that's what we are leaning towards to get the best support.
A topper can be changed.

Our S&F box springs seem to be a great condition - I always kept a dust mite, allergy protector on all 3 pieces.
Am I wrong to think we could still use the box springs?
Today's foundations look cheaply made.  What about adding a Bunkie board?

I so appreciate any guidance you can offer.  Thank you for being out there!
I am so happy to have found you. I can't even begin to tell you what a ray of light you are in a world of mattress darkness!
Sincerely, Mary

Hi Mary,
I would not recommend using a 15 year old boxspring under a new mattress.
The difference in price between the mattress only and the set is small.
For the little you'll save, you will automatically void the warranty of the mattress.
A 15 year old boxspring will have weak spots, to which the mattress will conform.
And while a bunkie board of sheet of plywood will help to prevent the mattress from wearing prematurely, it will still void your warranty.

For your sizes, I don't recommend the Black Beautyrest.
It would be the Simmons Beautyrest Platinum Series Gibson Grove Luxury Firm mattress.

To that, you will add a Pure Bliss Plush 2" Talalay Latex Topper.

The Natura of Canada Greenspring offers firmer support and is already upholstered with Plush Talalay Latex.
This eliminates the need to buy a separate latex topper....especially when you opt for the Ultra Plush model.
Because the quality of the components, in the Natura Greenspring mattresses, is so much greater, they're all firmer than they sound.
In fact, a recent customer who shied away from the Ultra Plush, due to it sounding too soft, called to discuss a soft latex topper for the Plush model they bought.
Here is a link to that line of mattress. Of which, I recommend the Ultra Plush for maximum comfort.

Frankly, you can't go wrong with either option.
However, I can't help but feel that you'll enjoy the Beautyrest mattress/latex topper combination more...based on your sizes.

Either one comes with white glove delivery, which includes removal of your old mattress.
The latex topper arrives via UPS.
Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.

Thanks, Pete
