Wife with Hip Pain. A New Mattress or a Latex Topper for the Old One?

Jason writes:

Hi Pete,
I live in Southern California. We have a mattress retailer, here, who urges people to replace their mattress if it's 8 years old or older.
Our mattress is almost 15 years old. So, their commercials got us thinking that we should get a new mattress.
The next thing, I did, was to get online and do a little research, which lead me to you.
I've read quite a lot of your blog post questions and answers, and am now confused as to what to do.
We have a Sealy Posturepedic Signature Series Maymont mattress, that we purchased from Macy's, all those years ago.
It's still in good condition. My wife has been complaining about her hip hurting her, which is what got me started.
But based on some of your recommendations, it seems that one of your latex toppers will solve her problem and save me a bunch on money.
We are a little lighter than average in body weight.
What do you recommend?
Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason,
It's a good thing you did some research before going out and buying a new mattress.
All of the name brands have been sold to investors who are using memory foam to sell more mattresses more frequently to the same people.
Memory foam has created a boon for the industry and a nightmare for the consumer.
Your Sealy Posturepedic Maymont is far better made than anything Sealy makes today...now that they are owned by Tempurpedic.
Keep what you have and add a 2" or 3" Plush Latex Topper to it.
It will relieve the pain in your wife's hip and breathe new life into your old mattress...which contains NO Memory Foam.
Here is a link to where you can order that Latex Topper.

UPS delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
Delivery takes about 2 weeks from the time you place your order...which you can do online.

Thanks, Pete
