Hello again,
I hope you are well. Thanks again for spending time on the phone with Joshua and me!
After talking to you, we went and found a mattress company that had a couple options for non-memory foam mattresses.
We are currently considering two, and wanted your take on one of them.
The first is a hybrid - Poly foam and latex on coils.
I found this one more comfortable, but we want to know what you think of the fact that there is any foam in there at all.
We are asking mostly from a health/toxicity perspective.
Would you give us your blessing here, or should we avoid this one entirely?
The second is all latex foam, so we assume it will be safe and long-lasting.
Let us know what you think!
Best, Rachel
Hi Rachel,
Both look fine, to me.
The one you choose should be based on your needs.
For instance, if either of you have any sort of disc related back problems, an all foam mattress does not provide the proper support...not even all latex.
Under those circumstances, stick with the coiled mattress.
If either of you have a desk job, keep in mind that long hours spent in a seated position is the major cause of disc related back damage.
So, if you have such a job, even though you do not now have disc related back pain...that job will give it to you.
Under those circumstances, stay with the coiled mattress.
If you are on the younger side and do not have a desk job, the all latex mattress will be the best...and longest lasting...assuming that the latex isn't made in China. The Chinese use clay as a filler, which greatly reduces the longevity of the latex they make.
You'll want to ascertain that information before buying either mattress.
