Sealy Memory Foam Mattress Causing Back Pain.

Hi Pete, 
I've been reading your blog. My husband and I need a new mattress. 
Our current mattress is a Sealy memory foam that has lasted at best 3 years and now sags terribly. 
We are done with memory foam. However, we went and tested a Simmons Legend and it felt great, but I'm worried about the memory foam. 
My husband is 6'0 and 170 lbs, and I'm 5'6" and 145 lbs. 
He has back and neck pain from sitting at a desk job all day, and I have an SI joint injury that causes hip and back pain. 
We are both back and side sleepers. I often end up having to sleep sitting up to alleviate back pain. 
Do we need an adjustable base along with a new mattress?

Not many people know that a desk job can cause back pain.
The pain comes from discs wearing...according to my orthopedic surgeon.
I have the same problem, and for the same reason.

The individually pocketed coils of the Simmons Beautyrest provide the push back support that your all foam mattress does not provide.
The contouring support of the individually pocketed coil unit maintains the natural alignment of the spine...which relieves a lot of that kind of back pain.

However, if you research Simmons Beautyrest for their durability, the reviews are horrible. 
Those coils are not made of tempered steel, and the upholstery is all memory foam, which you already know doesn’t last very long.
