Hi Pete,
If I've already got a high-quality boxspring (albeit 10 years old), why buy anything but a replacement mattress?
What is the life expectancy of a decent boxspring?
Does it affect the warranty of the new mattress?
Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve,
While not as noticeable as a fully upholstered product, a boxspring that old is bound to have weak spots...usually where you sit.
A new mattress will conform to those spots and make for an uneven surface feel.
That is generally what happens. Your size is also a factor.
If you are slender and have exerted very little pressure on it over the years, this is less likely to be a problem.
The best reason for getting a new boxspring is the mattress warranty.
And while being able to take advantage of a manufacturer's warranty is an iffy thing anyway, you can be sure that your warranty will be void the moment you put a new mattress on an old boxspring.
ALSO IMPORTANT:
I suggest using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will greatly extend the life and loft of the upholstery materials inside. Ours sleep cool and make NO Noise.

Thanks, Pete
