Waterproof Mattress Protector Sleeps Hot.

We recently bought a new mattress and the store insisted that the warranty would be voided if we didn't use a mattress protector to go on it.
Is that true?
Anyway, the one we bought has a terrycloth top and it makes us hot to sleep on it.
I'm afraid to take it off, but we can't live with the heat.

The mattress manufacturers require that the mattress stay stain free, for the warranty to remain
in force. 
And while it isn't absolutely necessary to buy a waterproof mattress protector, it is a good thing to have.
The problem you have, is due to the poor quality product that was sold to you.
