Fibromyalgia, Best Latex Mattress Topper, Feather Bed and Mattress Protector.

Hi Pete
I currently have:
  • a very basic older XL Twin Leggett and Platt adjustable base
  • a Serta Mattress
  • an Outlast mattress topper
The Serta Mattress and Outlast topper were purchased 9 months ago to replace the original Dormia memory foam mattress. About 2 years before giving up the Dormia mattress I had purchased a 2” latex topper – don’t know the softness rating on it – but worked well for a couple of years.
I have Fibromyalgia Syndrome with the associated pain that varies from day to day and also an occasional arthritis flare-up in my hip. I had to give up side sleeping many years ago but after the adjustable bed purchase back sleeping became way more comfortable.

Now after 9 months I’m looking for something that will give a little more comfort and pain management without having to go to a whole new mattress.
From reading your site it seems like a softer latex topper may be a good answer
Also, what if anything would be needed for a protector or cover for the topper?

So, what would you recommend for me and please furnish a link with your reply so I can go the product page.
Thank you so much for all the great information you have available on your website!!
Dina

Hi Dina,
Latex toppers come in a variety of fimnesses...and qualities.
The ones we carry are the best...Pure All Natural Latex with NO Fillers, NO Synthetics and NO Chemicals.
If you bought a latex topper that remained comfortable for ONLY a couple of years, I guarantee, it was made in China...where they use clay as a filler.
Our EverEden Soft Talalay Latex Toppers have an ILD of between 14 and 19...the softest Talalay Latex on the market.
The others sold on line that are called soft, tend to have an ILD in the low to mid 20s, which is not as soft....and, they are available firmer still.
For fibromyalgia, the recommendation is to start off with the 2" soft that we carry.

In cases where the fibro is advanced, the latex alone may not be enough. In the past, we recommended adding a feather bed topper to that.
In the few cases I've had where the fibro was severe, the additional feather bed did the job...but, requires regular fluffing.

A waterproof mattress protector is recommended for every mattress.
Keeping the upholstery layers clean and dry will extend the comfort life of those materials.
The biggest offender is perspiration that seeps into the mattress...
...little by little...night after night....year after year.
This one, also sleep cool...unlike many others.
