Simmons Beautyrest Pacific1000 Series Plush Mattress, gone bad in only 1.5 years.

Kate writes:

Hello Peter,
I bought my bed for two years and it started to cause me back pain about one year and a half after purchase. Is this a common issue
Sorry, I saw a post online related to this bed and found this email. I am hoping to find someone that can help me with this situation.
It is a bed that cost $2000+ and it should last longer than 1.5 years. I felt highly cheated by the seller.
Sincerely, Kate

Hi Kate,
If you had researched reviews on Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, you might been able to avoid your current situation. The reviews are horrible.
Your anger needs to be shared between your retailer and Simmons.

If you are in need of a new mattress, I can help you with that.
What we recommend to our customers lasts for many years.

Unlike most retailers, who are only interested in making a sale, and not caring if the quality is good or if it will suit your specific personal needs,
we specialize in quality and matching you up with the mattress that’s right for you.
Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,
Thank you for your quick and honest response.
I checked briefly your website and it seems like to recommend Simmon's Beautyrest luxury firm for back relief.
Is there other bed you can recommend? The price is over our budget.
Thank you, Kate

Hi Kate,
When we recommend a Simmons Beautyrest mattress, we also recommend a latex topper to go with it.
The latex is the key to having it last.
Otherwise, those Beautyrests will end up like yours.
By themselves, they just don’t wear well.

We carry four mattresses that use an individually pocketed coil system, like the Simmons Beautyrest, but with a couple of major differences.
The steel used to make the Beautyrest coils is raw...untempered.
Tempering steel, (the process heating to a very high temperature & cooling), makes the coils far more resilient and much longer lasting.
Then, there’s the upholstery. Simmons uses memory foam, which purposefully designed to need frequent replacing.
Memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented....creating a boon for the industry and a nightmare for the consumer.

The four mattresses I’m referring to, are made by Wolf.
Established in 1873, Wolf is the oldest mattress manufacturer in the country that has been continually owned by the same family.
The people I deal with, at the factory, are named Wolf.

There are 2 models...The Tulah Luxury Firm and the Brooklyn Plush, which are two sided, flippable models...upholstered with polyurethane foam.

There are 2 models...The Adrian and Adara models are one sided...upholstered with all natural latex.
These 2 models are basically the same, with the Adara model made of all natural materials, for the small difference in price.

All Natural Cotton Cover. All Natural Wool backing as a natural fire retardant. Upholstered with All Natural Latex. All Natural Wool insulator pad for support.

All 4 mattresses use a tempered steel pocketed coil unit.
None of them have any memory foam.

The FedEx Delivery is what helps to keep the cost down.
These are good quality mattresses at a reasonable price.

Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,
I noticed that you mentioned no memory foam. What's wrong with it? Isn't it a popular mattress these days?
Also, for the bed options, what's difference between one sided or two sided?
Just to double check, these beds you recommended are suitable for both me, who has chronic back pain, and for my husband?
I am about 110lb and my husband 180lb
Thank you, Kate

Hi Kate,

About 15 years ago, mattresses went from being two sided to one sided.
Since then, more and more memory foam was added.
The purpose of the memory foam is to make more sales, more frequently, to the same people.
Prior to that, mattress lasted 10 to 15 years, on average.

Given your husband’s weight, I would go with the two sided Brooklyn Plush.
You need only the mattress. Your foundation is too new to need replacing.

Thanks, Pete
