I presently have a Sealy Posturepedic mattress that has softened  up to the point that I wake up feeling like I've been in a brawl. 
Now  looking at S&F products, and wanting one that will offer some plushness with long-lasting support. 
Have also considered Tempur-Pedic. 
What do  you recommend I focus on so I will have a bed that is comfortable for at  least 5-6 years?

Hi Jonathan,
You seem well conditioned to accept the short 5 or less year lifespan of today's mattresses. Frankly, I find it unacceptable. 
But then again, I'm an old fellow who is still upset that gas isn't 29 cents a gallon anymore.
It wasn't very long ago, that a new mattress would last 10 to 20 years.
About 15 years ago, mattresses went from being two sided to one sided...cutting in half, the life expectancy. 
Since then, mattress manufacturer's have added more and more memory foam...which enhances the feel and further shortens the life of the mattress. 
Both, Sealy and S&F are owned by Tempurpedic...none worth buying. 
Besides being a poor quality, memory foam is a health hazard, off gassing the toxic chemicals from which it's made.

Let me point you in another direction...one that will last you a good 10 to 20 years...and be made of natural materials....NO Memory Foam.
