Natura of Canada Greenspring Mattress Needed for Long Term Back Pain Relief.

John writes:

Hello Pete,
I found your website a few days ago while researching mattresses.
You've confirmed my suspicions about the bunk being touted by the mattress industry, particularly by the brands pushing memory foam.
Long story short, I bought a mattress that came in a box nearly 3 years ago.  It served it's purpose initially, but a few months later I found myself tossing and turning like never before.
Now, it's even worse:  shoulder pain, neck pain, back pain, allergies (which I've never in my life suffered from) are the dividends that I've received from this mattress "investment".
On top of this, I'm a chronic migraine sufferer, which seem to have grown in intensity and duration in the past few years.
I can't say if the migraines are directly connected to what I've been (trying) to sleep on - seems to be a reasonable assumption however after reading through your site.

I'm a 49 year old male, 6'2" and 195 lbs and a side sleeper.
I'm a former college athlete, and, I still try to break a sweat on a daily basis at the gym, on the trail, on the course or on the mountain.
A good night's sleep is a prized possession for me - I'm desperate for it.  Unfortunately, it's been a very fleeting thing to which I've simply been writing off as part of the aging process.

A few years ago I was at a work conference in Laughlin, NV.  I don't remember the casino that I stayed in, but, for two nights I slept like I hadn't slept in a long, long time.
So well, that I took a picture of the mattress label, see attached.  Or if easier, the Simmons label says:  700200016-1060  HMB BXTB BRWC Felicity C.

Based on this info, could you please point me in the right mattress direction?
Kind regards, John

 Hi John,
When my wife and I travel, we look for hotels and motels that use Simmons Beautyrest mattresses.
The independent movement of the individually pocketed coil system used in the Simmons Beautyrest is why.
That type of coil unit will maintain the natural alignment of the spine...providing excellent support and a wonderful night's sleep.

Unfortunately, what it doesn't provide is durability.
The steel, from which the coils are made, is raw steel....not tempered. And, the upholstery is memory foam. (Although, the memory foam that Simmons uses doesn't seem to off gas).
Hotels are geared for comfort. They aren't so concerned about durability.
A hotel room may be used 3-4 night's a week, on average. Even with this part-time use, the mattresses are replaced every few years.
For home use in a master bedroom, you won't get but a couple of years out of that mattress.

What I recommend for you, is the same type of mattress we use at home...with each of us in the 225 lb range.
Imagine, the very same pre-compressed, individually pocketed coil unit made of double tempered steel....and upholstered with Natural Talalay Latex...containing NO Memory Foam.
What you have is the same support and comfort...lasting a good 20 years. THAT's value for your dollar.
The mattress is made by Natura of Canada. Their Greenspring mattresses have the same coils as the Beautyrest...a higher coil count...twice tempered steel...and latex upholstery.
The Plush Eurotop is the most comfortable of the 5 available models in that line.
