Comparable to the Sealy SpringFree Newport Beach Latex Mattress.

Hi Pete,
We have an 14 year old Sealy SpringFree Newport Beach king mattress, that we've been happy with and now need to replace. 
We bought it from you when you were based in NJ. 
I've  noticed the suggestion you made back in October 2013 about flipping the Newport Beach mattress and adding a 2" soft topper as a "solution" to a body depression problem.  
This is the problem we're having now - body depressions.  The side edges have given way after all these years too.  

So now I have 3 questions for you:

1.  Is the S&F Latex plush a comparable model to Sealy Reflexion Newport Beach?
2.  Is flipping our mattress and using a 2" latex topper a viable solution? Considering the $500 topper price, would this money be better invested in a new mattress?
3.  Are there any other new mattress combinations that would be more budget-friendly than the $3000+ for a new latex king mattress?  

One of the many aspects we love about latex is the low motion transfer.  My husband is an active sleeper, plus gets up several times at night.

Hi Susan,
I'm happy to hear that you've enjoyed that mattress for so long.
It is the 2.5" of poly foam at the top, that has caused your body impressions.
To answer your questions:

  1. No. Sealy and S&F are now owned by Tempurpedic, and they have loaded everything they make with memory foam...which wears more poorly than the poly foam.
  2. Yes. Flipping your mattress puts the latex at the top and the poly foam...along with the body impressions...at the bottom. The latex core is too firm to sleep on comfortably.
           So, the 2" Soft Talalay Latex topper added to it, will give you the comfort you want and the whole thing should last you another decade or more.

      3. Yes. From EverEden, their all natural 8" latex model...using a medium Dunlop core and a soft Talalay top, will mimic the feel of your Newport Beach....and, at a reasonable price.
