Hi John,
Your concern for sleeping hot is caused by the memory foam in your mattress.
It's the only upholstery material that is temperature sensitive...absorbing your body's heat, and reflecting it back to you.
The mattress you slept on in Bahamas, the Simmons Beautyrest Black, uses an individually pocketed coil system.
THIS is why the mattress was so comfortable. This type of coil unit, has always been the most popular because of the way it supports the body.
Each coil move independently from all the others.
When you lay on it, it contours to the shape of your body and maintains the spine's natural alignment.
Today's Simmons Beautyrest mattresses are upholstered with memory foam...although, the memory foam that Simmons uses is less temperature sensitive than the memory foam in your Tempurpedic.
Still, memory foam is specifically designed to wear quickly...losing it's support and comfort rather quickly.
However, when you get off of the mattress, the memory foam returns to it's original shape...or, close enough to it, as to not allow you to prevail in a warranty claim.
The reason why all of the name brands are now using memory foam, is to sell more mattresses more frequently to the same people.
It's created a boon for the industry and a nightmare for the consumer.
When we recommend a Simmons Beautyrest Mattress, we also recommend a latex topper to go on it.
The latex topper will insulate you from the memory foam, absorb all or most of your body weight and provide surface comfort that is outstanding and long lasting.
Latex is and has been the absolute best upholstery material since the 1920s.
A lower cost option...one that has worked well for many Tempurpedic owners, is to start with the latex topper.
Once it arrives, flip the Tempurpedic mattress over and add the latex topper.
Doing this provides better support, comfort and longevity...without heating up from the memory foam...which is now at the bottom of the mattress where it can do no further harm.
Another option is from a different brand...the mattress we use at home.
Natura of Canada produces their Greenspring line...which uses the same coil system as the Simmons Beautyrest...barral shaped, pre-compressed, individually pocketed coils that all move independently from one another.
The differecnes are:
The coil count is higher.
The steel from which the coils are made, is double tempered. The steel Simmons uses is not tempered, at all...raw steel.
The upholstery is Natural Talalay Latex and there is NO Memory Foam used....so it doesn't sleep hot and lasts a very long time.

First...the latex toppers. Either froam EverEden or Pure Bliss...the 2" Soft Talalay is the latex topper you'll need....either to be used on the Simmons Black mattress, or on the flip side of your Tempurpedic mattress.

However, the EverEden is finished with a reversible fabric and has corner straps that hook around the corners of your mattress. Using the mattress on an adjustable bed frame, I prefer to see you use the EverEden model for staying in place better.
