Simmons Beautyrest Platinum luxury plush versus luxury firm mattress.

Hi Andra,
From most brands, where there is a choice of comfort offered with the same model name, the padding is made firmer or softer to provide the choice.
With Simmons, the upholstery remains the same. What changes, is the gauge of wire used to make the coils.
The wire is much thinner in the luxury plush models than is used in the luxury firm models.
If you look at Simmons Beautyrest reviews, on line, you'll see that they are horrible.
The reason why those reviews are so bad, is because so many people with buy the plush model for it's initial comfort....it's greater depth of softness.
That thin wire doesn't hold up well, at all. But by the time that rears it's ugly head, it's too late for the customer to do anything about it.
The same is true for their pillowtop models. You may have noticed that we have eliminated all plush and pillowtop models from the Simmons pages on our website.
We won't take an order for them, because they are always a problem for the consumer...which I don't want to be my problem too.

Because of all the memory foam used in all of the Simmons mattresses, we recommend starting with one of their firm models and adding a 2" Soft Talalay Latex Topper to that.
The latex provides long lasting surface comfort...insulates you from the memory foam, so that it sleeps cool...and it absorbs most or all of your body weight, which causes the mattress to last a whole lot longer than it would without it. 
We been recommending this sleep system combination for the last decade, or so...and with zero complaints.
