Flipping a Tempurpedic Mattress.

Stefani writes:

Hi Pete,
I was reading online about someone else's experience with a Tempurpedic and saw your comment about flipping.
I've owned my Tempurpedic for a little over 4 years and I've had back pain ever since.
But we spend thousands of dollars on the mattress and can't afford to just get rid of it and buy something new.
So here we are suffering in our expensive bed that we wanted to buy for years and now can't stand.
Anyway back to my reason for contacting you.
So you explained that instead of buying a new mattress the person could just flip it.

This is what I read online from your website:
"However, your mattress is not likely to be 100% memory foam.
The underside of your mattress is likely to be made of high density poly foam, which is not temperature sensitive and far more resilient than the memory foam it supports.
If you simply flip your mattress over, that should be all you need do."

So I went home and flipped my mattress asap! But when I got to the back it specifically said in a big red tag this side down!
So I was wondering if there was a reason why it's only one sided and if it's going to be a problem for me "flipping"
I don't want to destroy the mattress (maybe someone would buy it from us if this doesn't work)
I just want to sleep without feeling like my back is broken when I wake up.
Thanks in advance for any help with information you have to offer.

Hi Stefani,
You let those big red letters stop you?!

Memory foam is the absolute worst upholstery material on the market...pure unadulterated garbage.
The purpose of memory foam is to sell more mattresses more frequently to the same people.
Memory foam is comprised of 61 different chemicals, some of which are toxic.
Memory foam is temperature sensitive. It softens as it warms from your body heat, which allows you to sink so far, that it throws off the alignment of your spine.
Most mattresses, today, are one sided.
Those big red letters are there so that you know which side is supposed to be up.
However, the up side is far lower in quality than the down side.

After you flip that mattress, you'll notice that the firm underside will help with your back pain,  dramatically.
However, the surface feel may be too firm to sleep on comfortably.
That is easily fixed with an EverEden all natural 2" Soft Talalay Latex topper.
