Hi Pete,
I have a 17 year old two sided Stearns and Foster mattress that I'd like to replace with another just like it.
What is Stearns & Foster making today that would be similar to what I have.
Thanks, Cathy

Hi Cathy,
To replace your old S&F mattress with something similar, you need to have a mattress with the same components.
Nothing S&F makes today, is even close to what you have. In fact, S&F is now owned by Tempurpedic.
Both, the coil system and the upholstery used are completely different from what they used, all those years ago.
Your mattress has the Bonnell coil and is upholstered with high density polyurethane foam.
Today's S&F mattresses use a pocketed coil system and upholstered with memory foam....and are one sided...not flippable.
Over the 20 years that memory foam has been out, it has proven itself to be the absolute worst material ever invented.
It's a temperature sensitive material that sleeps hot and wears quickly.
To mimic what you have, in terms of matching components, this line of two-sided flippable mattresses has the same coil unit and is also upholstered with high density poly foam.
And, they contain NO Memory Foam.

There are three models in this line, with the Brooklyn Plush model being the most comfortable.
The coil unit is a Bonnell...same number of coils, same gauge wire, same double tempering of the steel.
The upholstery is the same.
What it doesn't have, is the same rich fabric as S&F used back then.
Quite often, I get calls from people with old, well made mattresses, who are looking to replace it.
Almost as often, those mattresses are still providing excellent support and only need a bit more comfort.
After all, as we age, we need more comfort.
If you mattress is in good condition...other than not being as comfortable as you would like, then I would suggest you keep it and add to it, a latex topper.
Latex is and has been thee best upholstery material for the last 100 years.
Adding an EverEden 2" Soft Talalay Latex topper breathes new life into an old, well made, mattress....and can put off the purchase of a new mattress by several more years.
Here is a link to those.
