It would be best to have no memory foam.
It the 20 years it's been in existence, memory foam has proven itself to be the worst upholstery material ever invented.
It's temperature sensitive, which means it will soften and allow you to sink into it...through it, after a couple of years.
It does nothing to relieve pain. In fact, it enhances the pain you're wife will feel.
It also off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it's made....creating a health hazard...on top of being a lousy product.
We carry two sided mattresses from Wolf...a very old family owned and operated company, (since 1872).
The coils are very strong and there is no memory foam in these mattresses. They come in 3 choices of comfort, with the plush Brooklyn model being the most comfortable.
Money is saved, due to the method of shipping...shrink wrapped, rolled and boxed, and sent via FedEx.

Given that your wife is in pain, I'd suggest adding an Ever-Eden 2" or 3" Soft Talalay Latex topper.
