A Simmons Beautyrest mattress that will relieve hip pain.

I have developed hip pain from side sleeping on our Simmons Beautyrest NXG 100 firm mattress. I've tried a 2" memory foam topper which has helped but not enough.

We like the Beautyrest motion isolation and are considering replacement with your Beautyrest Black Ava in either Luxury Plush or Luxury Firm.

I am afraid I will overcompensate on the soft side with a plush but am also afraid the firm may still be to firm to eliminate the hip pain. What's your recommendation?

Hi Maurice,

The memory foam is the problem, which is why adding more memory foam didn't help.

If going with the Ava, your gut feeling is correct. The plush isn't resilient enough to hold up well...which is why we only offer the Luxury Firm of that model.

A new mattress, alone, won't solve your problem, since there is memory foam in all of Simmons' mattresses.

To provide the pressure point relief you want, only latex foam will do that. I suggest a 2" layer of soft Talalay latex from Ever-Eden.

What's more, I suggest that you buy the latex topper first and apply it to the mattress you have.

If you still feel you need a new mattress, you will still need the topper. However, you may also find that with the latex topper, your mattress will be comfortable enough to keep.

This is often a good, low cost solution to your kind of problem. It happens all the time.
