Does a split box spring have any negative effects on mattress?

Hi Pete,

Hi Mike,
Yes, it does. One of the major complaints about a king size, is that the mattress develops a hum up the middle.
The severity of that hump is due to two factors.
1) Nobody sleeps in the middle of a king, so the padding doesn't get the same degree of compression as on either side of center.
2) There's a split boxspring...each having a heavy, rigid border wire around the perimeter of each...which adds to the hump in the middle.
The only reason why you would opt for a split boxspring in a queen, is because the one piece queen won't fit up your stairs.
A good alternative option, is a wood foundation that arrives KD. Once assembled, it's one piece...and stronger than the boxsprings being made today.
