1st mattresses for twins...one boy and one girl.

Karen writes:

Hi Pete,
Our twins, one boy and one girl, are beginning to climb out of their cribs. We need to buy their 1st real mattress sets.
As you can imagine, twins are expensive in every way. So, I'd like to keep the cost down, but I don't want to compromise their health.
I've heard many bad things about the toxicity of memory foam, so want to avoid that.
I would like the quality to be good enough to last them for a good 10 years.
I prefer something all natural, but can't go to the expense of an all latex mattress.
What do you suggest for us?
Thanks for this, and everything you do.
Karen

Hi Karen,
Among my favorite mattresses to recommend for children are innerspring models, upholstered with all natural latex.
These mattresses are made by The Wolf Company...a family owned operation from Illinois, established in 1872.
They make a very good quality line of mattresses.
They have 2 "Latex Hybrid" models...and I suggest getting one of each.
Their Adara model used a pocketed coil unit, while the Adrian uses an interlocked Bonnell coil unit.
The Adara pocketed coil for your daughter and the Adrian model for your son.
These are long term products, which should last them much longer than 10 years. They should last until your little ones are grown and gone.
And, it's when they are older and bigger that the difference between these mattresses becomes relevant.
The Pocketed coil of the Adara will give better with the shape of a growing girl, as she begins to flare at the hip and take on a more womanly shape.
It's always the pressure at the hip, where women complain most about being sore. The pocketed coil unit relieves that pressure.
Boys, on the other hand, grow to be larger, heavier and rougher than girls. The interlocked Bonnell coil unit of the Adrian does a much better job of holding up to that kind of use.
And, of course, they are both upholstered with all natural, chemical free latex foam rubber...thee best and safe upholstery material for the last 100 years.
Our granddaughter's mattress is the Adara.
