Please Help! Deep Body Indentations on a Sealy Plush Pillowtop mattress.

Amy writes;

Hi Pete,
Please Help!! We desperately need your advice!
A year ago we decided to upgrade from a queen to a king.
We had been sleeping on a 14-year-old Simmons World Class Plush Pillowtop that never had any sagging or indentations. Best bed I have ever slept on.
Well, it's clear they don't make them like that anymore.
Unaware of how mattress quality has plummeted in the last decade we purchased a Sealy Plush Pillowtop mattress from Costco.
I don't know the name, but it is one of Sealy's mid-range mattresses. It was great for about a month. Now  sleeping in a hole. The deep body indentations are out of control.
I have chronic back pain so I wake up feeling miserable every day.
Having researched more on the Internet, I will never buy another pillowtop because they all seem to do this horrible body indentation thing now (unlike my fabulous 14 year old mattress).
Here is my question. Knowing that I like the way the plush pillowtop feels (comfort wise) when it's brand new with no ridges, can I get the same comfort from a firm mattress with a latex topper?
I'm concerned that even with the topper it might be a bit too firm.  Also, is it possible to put a topper on our one-year-old horribly indented mattress and not feel the indentations anymore?
I think we can return the Sealy to Costco and buy a new firm mattress elsewhere, but in case we can't, I'm not sure we can spring for the whole thing right now.
Thanks a lot! Amy

Hi Amy,
You're right! They don't make mattresses as they did 14 years ago.
The bad thing about Costco, is that they don't offer a mattress worth buying. The good thing about them is that you can return that dog for a refund.
Adding a latex topper to that Sealy won't straighten out the body impressions. You could have added a latex topper to your old Simmons, but it's too late for that.
The reduction in over-all quality in the mattress industry is no joke.
The poor quality results in physical damage and the pain resulting from it....not to mention the emotional upheaval that comes from the realization that you've just thrown a large amount of money out the window.
Besides the pillowtops failing, it's the memory foam in today's mattresses that is primarily responsible for the reduction in quality.
The latex topper is the consumer's saving grace. When used with a good, reasonably firm mattress, you're provided proper support and lots of quality comfort that lasts for many years.
I would suggest to you, a Simmons Beautyrest World Class Santorini in luxury firm and an Ever-Eden All Natural Soft Talalay Latex topper...2" or 3"

These toppers are finished like a mattress, in a taped edged cotton/polyester knit cover.Talalay Latex is a more supple material and is Hypo-Allergenic
Thanks, Pete
