Hi Pete,
Myself and partner approx. 175-185 lbs. Been researching and shopping for over a year and OVER it! Sooooo time consuming, so looking to you for resolve! Ultimately, we would like and adjustable bed, as I do a lot of late-night laptop work and reading. Pro and cons to this set up? Due to the high cost, most likely need to purchase mattress first, then adjustable base later. What do you think of this plan? Recommendations?
Open to your expertise. Also, if you wouldn't buy this option for yourself, what would you buy? (I've always been a fan of Simmons Beauty Rest, ever
since crashing at my friend's place in NY. I pain-stakedly pulled linens back to check mattress details. Too long now to remember anything but it was a Beautyrest!)
Lastly, I had back surgery 10 years ago and often have back pain. Could be the old Sterns & Foster I'm sleeping on now.
Anyways, please help with your recommendation! I would so appreciate having this project marked off my list of "to-Do's. Your honesty and experience...and time is very much appreciated.
Also, If I order from you, wouldn't YOU be my retailer? I want no hic-ups with such a major purchase, no loop-holes...meaning, if there's a problem with purchase, who is responsible for resolving?
Highest regards,
Donna

The adjustable bed base changes the recommendation.
The Beautyrest is a good mattress. The individually pocketed coils provide contouring support that maintains the natural alignment of the spine.
My wife and I have a Beautyrest. However, the padding in a Beautyrest, the memory foam, doesn't hold it's shape very well.
To circumvent the problem that memory foam causes, we recommend using a 2" layer of latex to go on top.
Our 4 y/o Beautyrest is in like new condition because of the latex topper.
As a flat bed, this works well and has good longevity.
The adjustable bed base makes it a poor choice. As innerspring mattresses go, the individually pocketed ones are the least durable.
But even the stronger innersprings will not wear well on an adjustable bed base.
When you crank up the head of the bed, the bulk of your body weight shifts to a central point in the mattress, as opposed to being evenly distributed when flat.
It's at this point, the spot under your butt, the will wear and wear quickly.
For use with an adjustable bed base, an all natural latex foam mattress is best. Latex is far more resilient than the coils and the mattress will last for a much longer period of time.
The contouring support of latex is similar to the support of a Beautyrest, just a whole lot more durable.
The Natura Bourdolay and the Ever-Eden 8" or 9" latex mattresses are the best buys we have.
The Natura comes with white glove delivery.
The Ever-Eden ships UPS and will require some work from you on your end. But, there is no sacrifice in quality and there is a noticeable savings due to the savings in shipping costs.
No matter what mattress you buy or where you buy it, it will come with a manufacturer's warranty.
It's the manufacturer, who is ultimately responsible for handling a warranty claim.
All warranty claims go through the retailer from whom you bought your bed. It is the retailer's job to initiate the warranty claim for you and to remain in contact with the manufacturer throughout the warranty process. The factory will only deal with the consumer directly, if the retailer is no longer in business.
