Mattress has body impressions & memory foam topper is toxic & hot.

Lissa Writes:

Peter,
Our mattress is beginning to have some body impressions and the edges are soft.  I have to admit not being super diligent about turning at quarterly intervals.  I agree totally that the foam is toxic.  We got a memory foam topper and we had to let it air out for 3 weeks before we could tolerate the odor.  Then was too blessed HOT to sleep on comfortably.  We tossed it out.
We have read too many bad reviews about the local mattress factory and Consumers Reports recently gave them a poor review.  We want an old fashioned turn-able mattress with coil springs not a fluffy top.
And whats the scoop on the commercials and internet rumor about a mattress can get heavier over years due to skin debris and dead bugs?
Thanks, Lissa

Hi Lissa,
There are lots of commercials designed to create business...putting consumers in the market for a mattress if they hadn't been thinking of doing so.
Fear mongering is one of the tactics used.

From the 1920s through the 1960s, mattresses were upholstered with cotton batting.
And, other than using a sheet of plastic, there was no such thing as a waterproof mattress protector, in those days.
Dust mites would make their way into the mattress to live and breed.
Also, your perspiration would seep into the mattress, if you didn't use a mattress pad or launder it frequently.

Since the 1970s, the cotton batting was replaced with the latest, greatest innovation...polyurethane foam.
Latex, poly foam and memory foam...the 3 principle upholstery materials used today, are a hostile environment for dust mites. They no longer get in and breed in your mattress.

Dust mites do collect on the surface, as they feed off of your dead skin cells, which are shed by the millions.
Using a waterproof mattress protector, laundering your linens more frequently and vacuuming the surface of your mattress will keep their population to a minimum.
A waterproof mattress protector that sleeps cool, will prevent perspiration for seeping into your mattress. Keeping your mattress dry will promote longer life of the upholstery materials inside.

We do carry a two sided mattress. Unlike the few others that are available on the market, ours was engineered by me, personally, using high quality materials and designed to last.
These have been on the market for 5 years, with zero complaints.
The Keepsake Cameo in plush is the most comfortable of them.
As plush beds go, it isn't all that plush and cannot be classified as "too soft".
Here is a link to those mattresses.

Moisture from perspiration causes premature wear.
Protect your investment with high quality, Waterproof Mattress and Pillow Protectors that sleep cool and don't shrink.

Thanks, Pete
