Today's mattresses don't wear nearly as well as they did in the good old days.
The upholstery used today is mostly memory foam, which is the worst material ever invented...from a consumer's point of view.
Also, a mattress is a pressure sensitive item. That is to say, the more pressure you place upon it, the sooner it will wear out.
I'm referring, of course, to your husband's weight.
Once you get over 200 pounds, it becomes important to go with a Black model Beautyrest. The triple strand wire coil, in those models, is much stronger.
I would suggest a Black Alexia model to support his size.
I would also suggest a 2" layer of all natural, soft latex to go on top.
Latex is and has been the absolute best upholstery material for the last 100 years.
Latex provides long lasting surface comfort, insulation from the memory foam in the mattress, and because it absorbs so much of the body weight, the mattress will last much longer than the manufacturer intended.
