Advice on a mattress for a 300 lb man.

Julie writes:

Pete-
We need a king mattress to accommodate a 300 lb man a 160 lb woman. Both side sleepers.
He likes it firm but the S&F we bought years ago hurts my hips and we ended up using memory foam toppers. Have read about the latex toppers and will go that direction next.
Please give us your suggestion on a mattress that will hold up to his size and be cushioned enough to not hurt my hips/shoulder.
Thanks!
Julie

Hi Julie,
Memory foam is worthless for that purpose. Latex is sooo much better...more comfortable and more resilient. Start with that, a 2" layer of soft talalay latex.
It may be enough, that you don't need to buy a new mattress right away.
When you do need a new mattress, you'll be able to use the latex topper with it. The toppers last for years.
When you do buy a mattress, I have a two sided model that will hold the weight and be comfortable. But, not so comfortable for a side sleeper that you will still need the latex topper with it for that yummy feel.
The mattress is out Therapedic Cameo in plush.
Here are the links for the topper and the mattress.
